Tommaso Di Giovanni, Vice President Global Communications, Philip Morris International

Tommaso Di Giovanni is Vice President Global Communications at Philip Morris International (PMI), the leading tobacco company with the ambition to replace cigarettes with science-based smoke-free products that are a much better choice than continuing to smoke.

Tommaso leads the deployment of PMI’s corporate communications and public campaigns around the globe. His priority is to create global awareness of the opportunity presented by innovation, science and technology to achieve a smoke-free world. In his current role, he is also responsible for supporting affiliates around the world in their efforts to share PMI’s vision for a smoke-free future with the media and other stakeholders.

He joined PMI’s business planning and development department in France in 2001, and since then had assignments in regulatory affairs and communications in Lausanne (PMI’s global operations center), New York (Latin America regional office), and in Philip Morris affiliates in Brazil and Italy. In 2012, he returned to Lausanne to pioneer corporate communications on science-based smoke-free alternatives. Prior to joining PMI, he worked for the European Parliament and as a contracted economist to the European Statistical Office focused on R&D statistics. In 2020, he was awarded as one of the 20 Global Rising Stars in PR and Communications by PRovoke.

Tommaso has a business management degree from Università Bocconi, Milan and FGV (Fundacao Getulio Vargas – Sao Paulo, Brazil).

He lives in Lausanne with his wife Karolina, and two children Carlo and Giulia.
